Week 37 by Judy
We went camping at Disney World for a few days this week. This Pileated Woodpecker was about ten feet away from our campsite. It was looking for bugs in a sawed down cypress tree stump. They are large, beautiful birds. Supposedly, the cartoon character, Woody Woodpecker, was modeled after the Pileated Woodpecker. Of course, only us "older" individuals would remember the Woody Woodpecker cartoons. :-)

Ha Ha I do remember Woody Woodpecker. I loved watching that cartoon when I was a kid. As soon as I saw the photo I immediately saw the woodpecker. I think they are the neatest one of all the woodpeckers. Great capture and composition.
ReplyDeleteNice pose and perspective! I love the leading lines that the old, hollowed-out stump creates leading you right to the adorable face of the woodpecker! What a cute capture! Love it!
